Ramblings of Jenny Krueger! Short Review: Children of the Corn, The Final Sacrifice

One night I went to Wal*Mart and I was rummaging through their $5 movie bins and I found a double feature DVD that had Children of the Corn 2 and 3, with the original Children of the corn being the love of my life I had to get it. What I like about Children of the Corn 2 The Final Sacrifice is that it still has that same sense of style that the first movie had. The second movie picks up right where the first movie ended, reporters rushing to the scene of the crime where all the children in the town go berserk and kill all the adults. All the children seem to be dazed and confused, in other words brainwashed since all they can say to the reporters is "I saw... the corn!" No one knows whats going on and everyone seems to be just as confused as the kids. We're introduced to Micah the new boy preacher who took over Isaac's spot from the first movie, why? Because Isaac is dead. I don't know who's a better preacher, Isaac or Micah. Isaac does have that creepy looking vibe to him with his squeaky voice while on the other hand Micah has that "let me dazzle you with my stunning good looks then sacrifice you to He who walks behind the rows" vibe to him, I guess it all depends on how you like your demon children.

Micah is taken in by a local woman named Angela while a reporter John and his son Danny stayed with her. The movie goes on with Micah convincing the other children that they need to pick up the pieces that was left by Isaac and to continue with the worshiping and sacrificing to He who walks behind the rows. The movie continues on with John and Danny fighting, the children slowly killing off the rest of the adults and their sacrifice. Micah turns into He who walks behind the rows (which was really weird) the rest of the children get killed off... I think???...... Danny falls in love with one of the local girls who Micah tries to sacrifice. AWKWARD! They kill off He who walks behind the rows and they live happily ever after... yeah right! since there is another Children of the corn after this one.

Onto Ramblings of Jenny Krueger!!.....

Why the frick do they call this movie The Final Sacrifice when there is FIVE more COTC movies after this one?! Having sequels to a movie isn't bad but for this movie you can only do so much till it gets to the point of overkill and I think that was movie number 3. This is the type of movie that you can't have more then 1, it's the type of story line that can't be milked. I'm sorry you can't milk the whole story line of demonic children killing off all the adults in the cornfield for five more movies. If you saw the rest of the COTC movies then you will get my point.

Have you ever noticed that every single COTC movie except for the first one, they have that weird looking pitchfork thingy on the movie cover? Haha! I for one just noticed that today while I was writing this review. ^^^ notice the picture of all the movie covers above.

Why does almost every horror movie or COTC movie have to have two people fighting? In the first movie it was Burt and Vickie, in this movie it was John and Danny, the third movie it was the two brothers and in the remake it was Burt and Vickie again. We have enough fighting in the real world we don't need it in our horror movies. Yes I do understand that in horror movies you can't have happy go lucky people in it because this isn't a happy bubbly movie, but we also don't need to hear two people bickering at each other all the time. If I wanted to hear two people fighting I would listen to my sister and her ex boyfriend have a conversation.

In the book and first movie they are in Gatlin Nebraska but in this movie they move to Hemmingford the town next to Gatlin. Micah tries to combine the two towns by a blood oath but I'm sorry to burst your bubble but it doesn't work that way. You can't combine two towns together no matter how much demonic possession you have, it just doesn't work. They should of just stayed in Gatlin since that's where everything happened and where the heart of He who walks behind the rows lies.

In the movies you never see He who walks behind the rows and I like it that way. They always have to make the preacher turn into him like with what happened with Isaac and Micah. What makes He who walks behind the rows so scary is that you never see what he looks like, you never see the real him. Why ruin that suspense and lack of knowledge by making the preachers turn into him. That just hocked me off bad.

I find it funny that this is the sequel and it takes place right after the last sacrifice with Isaac and Malachi and the children talk about Isaac in this movie when this movie was filmed in 1992, 8 years after the first movie. I also find it funny how the children talk about Isaac and how they were part of the last sacrifice with Isaac and Malachi when they weren't even in the first movie, none of them were. We have a whole new group of kids and they're acting like they were part of the beginning.. Idiots.

I enjoyed this movie a lot and I know it's going to become one of my favorites since it gives me that same warm fuzzy feeling that the first Children of the Corn gave me. It's cheesy, yes but it's definitely fun to watch and something to check out. If you're a fan of COTC and Stephen King then the COTC series is something you ought to check out, the worst that can happen is you hate the movie but come on we're all horror movie critics here, watching and reviewing stupid horror movies is part of our job description. :] I give this movie 4 out of 5 Skulls.

Oozing Thoughts Of A A.D.H.D./ O.C.D. Mind Pt. 4:

1: I really suck at blogging and I think everyone is starting to notice it =/ I'm sorry to everyone who's blog I have been neglecting lately, I've just been super busy and I haven't been able to come up with things to blog about.

2: I'm thinking about signing up for my own Netflix account, maybe that will help me get some more movie reviews on here.

3: My review for "I spit on your grave" is taking way too long to finish. Too long to the point that it's starting to get on my nerves. Hopefully it'll be done within two weeks.

4: I'm super excited for the final installment of Harry Potter and I'm a little sad since I don't have a new HP film to look forward to anymore =[

5: In 4 weeks I'll be sitting pool side in Las Vegas and California and I'm super excited for that. I am in desperate need of a vacation and I know this one is going to be good.

6: As most of you may know already since I've talked about it before a couple of times. (I tend to do that.) I've been on a diet for several months to lose weight for my vacation and for my overall life. Well for the past couple of months I fell back into my eating disorder that I had when I was younger. I know, I know it was very stupid and not healthy but come on, things happen and you get stressed and desperate cause you don't know what else to do so you go back to your bad habits that you know will give you results. My problem was I wasn't looking for healthy lifestyle changes I was looking for something that will give me fast results and work for me which is why I did that for so long and went back to doing it.

Don't worry I've been working on trying to do it the healthy way and staying away from things that promote eating disorders and crap like that. I don't want any of you to feel sorry for me or feel bad cause it's no one's fault but mine, I'm the one who chose that lifestyle for myself and I understand now that it was stupid and not right.

7: I really love Wes Bentley and he's one of my favorite actors. I really hope we get to start seeing more of him cause he definitely has some major talent. Plus he's bangin' hott! =]

8: What's funny is I do a lot of these "Oozing thoughts" segments cause I can't find anything else to blog about lol. I really miss the days when I was constantly updating my blog with new information and how I got a lot of comments on all of my posts (sorry had to whine a little ;]) that I'm trying REALLY hard to do that again and to write a lot of reviews and talk about things that have to do with the horror industry.

9: My dream car is a Mini Cooper and I am determined to get one sooner or later. A lot of people would laugh at the fact that a Mini Cooper is my dream car but hey I liked that car ever since they first came out. I don't need a big fancy flashy car to look good or to feel good.

10: Again what the hell happened to Pete?!?!?

11: Sorry to the lack of twitter updates, I usually use it to make updates on my blog but since I haven't been blogging lately my twitter has been put aside, as of right now.

12: I am so freakin excited to see My Chemical Romance in concert again. I saw them in April and now they're coming back to Utah in September with Blink 182. Of course I'm going to see them again since after all they are my favorite band.

Happy Mother's Day!!

Wendy Torrence:(The Shining) Her husband's a killer and he's after her and her son, she's crazy and she's got a baseball bat. Don't mess with her.

Morticia Addams:(The Addams Family) I've always loved her in this movie. I would be in complete awe by her when I would watch this and I've always wanted to be her.

Lily Munster:(The Munsters) She is classic beauty right there and you can definitely see her love for her family.

Pamela Voorhees:(Friday the 13Th) A mother and son relationship never been so strong, Mama V will do anything to protect her little boy Jason proving she is one kick ass mama.

Chris MacNeil:(The Exorcist) A true mother, she wouldn't sit around and let her daughter be possessed by a demon. She demanded people help her and she got what she wanted.

Margaret White:(Carrie) This proves that having a mother that is religious isn't always the best ;)

Amanda Krueger:(A Nightmare on Elm Street) Without her we wouldn't have Freddy Krueger.

I hope all the mother's had the best Mother's Day and to continue bringing the world bastard sons of a 100 maniacs ;)

Character Tuesdays! Jason Voorhees

Jason, my special, special boy. Do you know what your gift is? No matter what they do to you, you cannot die. You can never die. You've just been sleeping, honey. But now, the time has come to wake up. Mommy has something she wants you to do. I need you to go to Elm Street. The children have been very bad on Elm Street. Rise up, Jason. Your work isn't finished. Hear my voice and live again. Make them remember me, Jason. Make them REMEMBER WHAT FEAR TASTES LIKE. - Mrs. Voorhees

Jason Voorhees, one of America's favorite horror villains. Becoming a horror fanatic and a Scream Queen I've always been drawn to Jason and his life. Yes we all know I am 100% Freddy's girl but I can't help but have a secret love affair with Jason Voorhees. Is it because he's the strong silent type? Or because his childhood hits close to home with me? I like both of those suggestions :) All Jason wanted was to be loved and to be liked by the other kids, we all did when we were that age. Jason was born with a facial deformity which made him look different and for that he was teased and bullied by the other kids at his summer camp. Just because someone looks a different way doesn't mean they deserve to be treated like shit and made fun of. While he was at summer camp all the kids were throwing rocks at him, pushing him and trying to shove a burlap sack over his head.

The bullying and pushing got so bad that all the kids ended up pushing Jason into the lake and running away. Jason not being the best swimmer ended up drowning at Camp Crystal Lake. While Jason was drowning all the camp counselors were out banging each other since getting laid was more important to them then paying attention to the kids. The counselors end up killing Jason's mother Mrs. Voorhees and with Jason being a huge mommas boy tramatizes him. Because of his mother's death Jason comes back from the grave to punish the kids who come to Camp Crystal Lake. In my opinion I don't think Jason was a bad person, his mother on the other hand is a different story. Like I said all Jason wanted was to be liked and accepted but since he looked a different way all the kids wouldn't be friends with him cause they thought he looked weird.

Jason wasn't a bad person he just turned into a killer because having your mother get killed and to be teased non stop by the other kids will take it's toll on you and mess up anyone. The reason why I became drawn to Jason is because in a way we had the same childhood. The kids weren't as bad to me as they were to Jason, they didn't throw rocks at me or push me in the lake having me drown but I was teased all the time by the other kids in school since I wore hearing aids. All I wanted was to be liked by everyone and to be accepted but I wasn't because I didn't fit up to THEIR standards and heaven forbid they be friends with the girl who wore hearing aids. Everyone just needs to be nice and friends with everyone because it's better to be friends with people then to be enemies. I've mentioned in my other post titled "Stop the Bullying" we all need to be nice and treat everyone with respect cause you never know what that person your teasing is going through. You never know that one word or that one push might be the tip of the ice burg and that person goes berserk. The moral of that story and this Character Tuesdays is you bully someone plan on getting murdered cause you never know if your dealing with a Jason Voorhees.

Music Mondays: William Control, Beautiful Loser

William Control is an American electronica band and the side project of Aiden's wiL Francis. He is signed to Victory Records and has released two albums, "Hate Culture" and "Noir", the latter of which was released on June 8, 2010.

Wil Francis formed William Control because he was interested in making music that didn't match the style of his other band, Aiden. In 2008 William Control released their debut album Hate Culture which is, as explained in a Kerrang! magazine interview, the story of a man named William Control and his last night on Earth because he wishes to kill himself. Hate Culture peaked at #12 on the Billboard Electronic Albums chart and #43 on the Heatseekers chart. The band released a video for "Beautiful Loser" as the album's only single.

William Control toured with Escape The Fate on their "This War is Ours" tour in late 2008. In 2009, Wil Francis began working on a new William Control album, titled Noir, that was released on June 8, 2010. Francis invited his friends and fans to come up to the studio and record vocals for the new album, among whom is Ashley Costello of Orange Country rock band New Years Day and Jeffree Star, While its appearance on the album has yet to be confirmed, a teaser video featuring what appears to be the song "Deathclub" (a song that had only been released as a remix and has yet to be heard in its original form) was released by Wil via his social networking sites. Francis also stated that he will be supporting Jeffree Star, and doing a headlining show the day after.

Alt Press magazine has stated Noir to be released on June 1 via victory records though Francis later stated that the release had been pushed back a week to the 8th of June. Francis also announced he was filming a video for Noir's first single, "I'm Only Human Sometimes". The single for "I'm Only Human Sometimes", along with others was leaked 3 weeks before the release of Noir.

On July 13, he released a spoken word track "Eleonora" (written by Edgar Allan Poe) on iTunes. He later released "The Tell Tale Heart" on September 13, "The Oval Portrait" on October 15, and "The Raven" on October 30, all of which are also written by Edgar Allan Poe. On his website he has stated that he is currently writing new songs.

*Information from wikipedia*

I really liked his CD "Hate Culture" and the songs are pretty catchy, I have the CD and I enjoy listening to it and I'm a huge fan of the band Aiden. His new CD "Noir" not so much. It's completely different from his first CD which isn't bad but I couldn't get into his songs, they're not as catchy as the first Cd's but oh well to each their own.
