Happy Bloody Birthday To Me!!!

Today is the day. The day of violence, despair, blood and cake. Today is my birthday! I am a quarter of a century, 25 years old. It's funny knowing that I'm 25 and in 5 years I'll be 30 when I still get ID'd for R rated movies. That always bugged me cause I haven't been 17 in 8 years. Today was a good day, didn't have to work since I always ask for my birthday off. My Dad took me out to breakfast at Denny's this morning. I had my usual, French Toast Slam.

We were planning on seeing the new Die Hard movie today at 3pm but once we got to the theatre they said the next showing was at 5:40pm. That irritated us cause it said there was a 3pm showing on their website. Oh well. After our movie plans were busted we went over to Buckle and Rue 21. Later that evening we went to TGI Fridays for my birthday dinner. My sister Sheena and her daughter came, along with her fiancé. My sister Maegan and her husband was there and also my parents. It was a very fun night. :)

On Sunday we had a big birthday dinner with the rest of my siblings and nieces & nephews who weren't able to come to my dinner on my actual birthday. It's always fun getting the nieces and nephews together for Sunday dinner. My parents bought me a Red Velvet cake from Costco which was REALLY good. My dad put the number candles on the cake and put them on backwards which said I was 52. Haha!

The Friday before my birthday me, my sister Sheena and her fiancé Will went to the Tavernacle which is a dueling piano bar. At first I didn't think a piano bar would be fun but it actually was. They have a drink called a Purple Popsicle and it tastes just like a grape otter pop. So good! I got a little drunk that night. ;)

For my birthday I have a little tradition that I always do. On my actual birthday I watch Children of the Corn since it's my favorite horror movie and the love of my life. I started a new tradition, the night before my birthday I'll watch Dahmer. And we all know the reason for that. I figure that it's my birthday so I'm going to treat myself by watching my second favorite horror movie and swooning over the lovely Jeremy Renner in the process. He does get shirtless in that movie so win, win! ;)

I got some birthday money from my family members so I need to plan a day where I can go shopping and enjoy that money. I'm in need a new wardrobe so this birthday money will come in handy. When I got on Facebook today I was greeted with a lot of Happy Birthdays and well wishes from my wonderful friends. My friends and fellow horror bloggers Maynard and Emma made me a birthday picture which was so nice to see and made my day.

Emma made me a Freddy picture and Maynard made me a Dahmer picture. They know what I like, it's not hard since I have OCD and everything I like becomes an obsession. I just want to take this time and personally thank everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday and made me some really nice birthday pictures. The last three years my birthday hasn't been the greatest and because of that I always fret the day coming. It's really comforting to know that I have a lot of great friends who are here for me when I need them the most. Thank you so much! :D

Movie Review: Warm Bodies

The movie Warm Bodies takes place during the Zombie Apocalypse where one zombie known as R falls in love with a human girl named Julie. The relationship between R and Julie cause side effects in R that makes them think they might just have a way to rid the Zombie Apocalypse after all.

I'll admit that I wasn't too keen on the idea of this movie. I saw the trailer and instantly thought "Great! A zombie version of Twilight." I decided to give it a try just for the fact that it was about zombies, with me being a Necrophiliac I couldn't say no. ;)I didn't have very high expectations about this movie because the idea of zombie love is kind of cheesy. The zombie, R was played by Nicholas Hoult (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS) he did a pretty good job. His acting wasn't spectacular but it wasn't bad like Kristen Stewart.

Julie was played by Teresa Palmer (TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT) I really like her. She's so pretty and she doesn't come off as a stuck up Hollywood snob (not yet, that is.) I do enjoy her acting and think she's a very talented actress and I can see her making it big. The supporting cast of the movie also held their own and did a good job. Julie's friend Nora played by Analeigh Tipton wasn't too bad. According to IMDB, she placed third in cycle 11 of America's Next Top Model. I don't know why but I had a good giggle from that.

Julie's boyfriend Perry played by Dave Franco was okay. In my opinion I think he did the worse out of everyone in the movie. His performance wasn't memorable and it made me feel like he was in the middle of trying too hard and not trying hard enough. Wasn't my favorite. R's zombie friend M who was played by Rob Corddry did a great job. He was very funny in the movies WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS & HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, so it was nice to see the same funny guy in this movie. Julie's dad who is played by John Malkovich did a great job at playing the over bearing tool father. Even though he wasn't bad I still liked him better in the movie RED.

I enjoyed this movie a lot and had a fun time watching it. It wasn't the greatest movie ever like everyone on Facebook claims but it wasn't terrible and it was a fun movie. I was very impressed at how well they made this movie without making it super cheesy. The soundtrack was awesome and the fight scenes between the zombies were kind of cool. It had a lot of funny parts that had me laughing but it wasn't like 'laugh out loud till you pee your pants' funny. I kept anticipating when they were going to throw in the term Necrophilia in there because of the relationship between a zombie and a living person. They didn't. :/ It doesn't take a lot to please me and make me happy or even amuse me for that matter but yet they continue to not do it. Jerks.

All in all this was a very fun movie and I enjoyed it a lot. I might even watch it again. If you're looking for a fun, entertaining movie that feeds your hunger for horror/zombies then I recommend this movie. You'll have a good time. I give this movie 4 out of 5 Skulls.
