Beetlejuice 2???

Heard on FEARnet that BEETLEJUICE 2 is officially in the making. Seth Grahame-Smith, screenplay writer of Tim Burton's newest film DARK SHADOWS and novel of ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER is now the writer of BEETLEJUICE 2. Smith said he got in contact with Burton and Keaton about the movie and they said they were on board with the idea. Smith also mentioned that it won't be a remake or a reboot but a sequel of the 1988 original movie set 26 to 27 years later. I am still on the fence about this one and I don't know how I'm going to digest it.

The first time I heard about this concept, it was when they were thinking about doing a remake for it. I was seriously pissed when I heard about that because BEETLEJUICE is one of my favorite movies of my childhood and movies of all time. Why do they do this to me or the rest of the horror fans for that matter? We don't want to see remakes of cult classics, we want to see new horror movies of originality. They stabbed my heart with the remake of FRIDAY THE 13TH. They pulled my heart out with the remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. They threw my heart on the ground and stomped on it with the remake and prequel of CHILDREN OF THE CORN.

You would think that would be enough, right? Nope, they continue to stomp on my heart till it's a pile of moosh with their constant remaking of my favorite horror movies. With that being said, instead of bitching and crying about it, since they're going to keep remaking movies. I'm just going to wait for the movies to hit theatres and see what they're like. You never know, I might end up liking them. I liked the remake of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and not a lot of people did. Even though I prefer them to leave BEETLEJUICE alone, I'll anxiously wait for the arrival of BEETLEJUICE 2. The reason why I'm not too annoyed with this happening is the fact Tim Burton will be directing it and Micheal Keaton will once again bring BEETLEJUICE back to life.

I'm very happy they decided to cast Keaton as BEETLEJUICE and not cast someone else like they did with Freddy Krueger. Those types of characters you can't mess with and you shouldn't try to or you'll end up ruining them all together. What are your thoughts on this subject? Are you looking forward to the sequel of BEETLEJUICE or do you wish they would just leave classic horror movies alone?

Be still my bleeding heart......
