Movie Review: MAMA
MAMA is a ghost story that had so much going for it but ended up bombing at the end. After Jeffery kills his wife, he takes his two young daughters, Victoria & Lilly to an old abandoned cabin deep into the woods. He plans to kill his daughters along with himself. Right when he goes to do that, a ghost of a woman who has been searching for her long lost baby comes in and kills the dad, saving the girls.
For the next five years the ghost raises the girls and feeds them with cherries. The ghost is known as MAMA to the girls. During those five years, Lucas who is Jeffery's brother has been searching for his nieces. The private investigator that Lucas hired to search for his nieces finally found them all alone in the cabin. How alone were they?
The girls were taken to a Child Psychologist Clinic. Lucas introduces himself to the girls and tells them that he is their uncle. The girls movie into their uncle's house which is where they meet their Aunt Annabel. Once they get settled in, strange things begin to happen. We find out exactly who MAMA is.
Back in the like the 1800's, a woman captures her baby while killing a nun. She starts running through the woods, trying to escape the guards that were after her. She got trapped with no way out unless she decides to jump off the cliff. Which is what she actually did. She falls into the water, dying and her baby that was swaddled in a blanket gets caught on a tree branch and survives.
MAMA never knew that so she's been searching for her baby ever since her death. Annabel tries to reach out to her nieces but has a problem with it since she's too bad ass for that. She finally makes a connection with Victoria but not Lilly since she's more in touch with MAMA. Once MAMA finds out that the girls were getting close with their Aunt & Uncle she gets jealous and kidnaps the girls and takes them to the cliff where she died.
Lucas finds where MAMA's baby is and heads out to the cliff with Annabel. They try giving MAMA her baby in hopes that she will let the girls go. She won't let them go since she needs to right the wrong that she did. Annabel continues to hold on to Victoria and not let her go. Victoria tells Lilly that she's going to stay. Lilly and MAMA fall off the cliff and once they hit the branch that MAMA's baby got caught on, they turn to butterflies.
Lilly dies with MAMA and gets reincarnated into a butterfly. I have to say that the ending was horrible. I didn't like how they killed off Lilly, the cute one out of the two. If they would of let them all live or Annabel sacrifices herself to let her nieces live with their uncle then that would of been so much better. Really? The cute little girl had to die and get reincarnated into a butterfly? Not happy. Not happy at all.
This movie was actually a very good ghost story. It had a great concept, the back story was amazing, the acting from the little girls were outstanding. The ghost was pretty creepy and had everyone in the theatre, except for me, jumping and screaming. ;) It's really sad how an ending can ruin the whole entire movie. It started out strong then fizzled out towards the ending then it blew up. The jump scares were also really good. It got the whole theatre anxious and excited.
I know this was a horror/thriller but you don't mess with little children. Unless it's Children of the Corn, cause that's a totally different story. ;) I give this movie 4 out of 5 Skulls.

Music Mondays Ft. Oingo Boingo (Dead Man's Party)
It's been a long time since I've done a new Music Mondays. So this is the very first Music Mondays for 2013. I love 80's rock music, especially if it has an Halloween/horror theme to it. That's pretty much why I really like Oingo Boingo's Dead Man's Party album. I've been aware of Oingo Boingo when I heard their song 'Weird Science' which is on this album, a few years ago.
Oingo Boingo was an American rock band. They are best known for their influence on other musicians, their soundtrack contributions, and their high energy Halloween concerts. The band was founded in 1972 as The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, a performance art group. From 1976 it was led by songwriter/vocalist Danny Elfman, who has since achieved success as a composer for film and television.
The group's format changed twice. In 1979, it reshaped from a semi-theatrical music and comedy troupe into a ska-influenced New Wave octet and shortened their name to Oingo Boingo. Towards the end of the 1980s, the band began shifting to a more guitar-oriented alternative rock sound, and away from the use of horns and synthesizers. The band retired after a sold out farewell concert on Halloween 1995.
Danny Elfman has been a composer for a lot of famous directors but he is most known for his continuous work with director Tim Burton. For this Music Mondays I've chose the song Dead Man's Party from Oingo Boingo. I really like this song, it's the perfect dance song and it's played at all the Halloween parties. It has Halloween written all over it and if you really love songs to dance to and has a horror/Halloween theme then this song is for you.

Movie Review: Repo! The Genetic Opera
Repo! The Genetic Opera is about a worldwide epidemic causing a biotech company to launch an organ-financing program. Pretty much the same as a car loan. You don't pay for your organs, the Repo men will come and make you pay for the surgery. It was directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (SAW, MOTHER'S DAY, 11-11-11, THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL)with writers Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich. Terrance Zdunich also played the Graverobber in Repo!
Along with Terrance, the movie stars actors Alexa Vega as Shilio Wallace, Paris Hilton as Amber Sweet, Bill Moseley as Luigi Largo and Sarah Brightman as Blind Mag. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. I watched it on FEARnet not expecting much from it. To my delight, it was awesome. The Cinematography was amazing, I loved the contrast of the colors in the movie.
This movie was a musical which is one of the reasons I didn't have very high hopes for it. A horror musical to me just sounds goofy and dumb. This was far from it. The music and lyrics were perfect. It almost had a beat that you could get up and dance to. The singing from a few of the actors (Alexa Vega, Paris Hilton & Bill Moseley) wasn't the greatest. The songs were still good and very well written; it just wasn't their finest moments.
Terrance Zdunich who played the Graverobber was the best part of the whole entire movie. His performance stole the show. The way he pulled you in and made you feel like he was talking/singing directly to you. He has a beautiful voice and he was the best singer in Repo! I know that his voice in the movie wasn't his real voice since I've heard him speak in interviews and it's completely different from his voice in the movie.
I also thought he was pretty good looking. I don't know why but I have always had a thing for guys who look like they're dead. I think it's from the crush I had on Beetlejuice when I was little. Gotta love dead guys. ;) The story line was amazing, the actors gave a great performance. Even Paris Hilton did a pretty good job. I really don't have a problem with her. Back when I was 15 I was obsessed with her, I thought she was the coolest person. Ha! Again, I wasn't expecting her to be amazing because let's face it, she's not very good at acting. I was pretty surprised that Darren, the director wanted her in the film.
Besides being a musical it does feed your need for horror. It has a horror atmosphere to it, the story line is horror and it has enough blood in it to satisfy any gore hound. I recommend this movie because it's fun, the songs are catchy and it's different. Remember, sometimes different is better. ;) I give this movie 4 1/2 of 5 Skulls.
This is my favorite part in the movie. Enjoy. :)

The Many Faces Of Leatherface...
With the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie opening a few weeks ago, I wanted to do a post dedicated to Leatherface himself. I thought it would be a cool and fun idea to post about the many faces of Leatherface. After all, it has face in his name. ;)
Leatherface - The original
Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
Leatherface - Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3
Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4, The Next Generation.
Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Remake.
Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.
Leatherface - Texas Chainsaw 3D
For me, I would have to say that my favorite "Leatherface" is the remake. I loved the way he looked and thought his face mask was pretty outstanding. I did get a kick out of Leatherface in The Next Generation. One of my friends described him looking like a Rosie O'Donnell drag queen. Which "Leatherface" is your favorite??

Ted Bundy Review!
I have always loved learning about serial killers. Not because I condone their actions or because they're just so totally cool. It's because I'm interested in the way their mind works. I love learning why they became a serial killer. Yesterday I watched the movie 'Ted Bundy.' I was very pleased with this movie. I always get a big kick out of the information that I can point out in the movie.
It makes me feel like I accomplished something in my life. ;) We're introduced to Ted Bundy in the very beginning of the movie. He gets up and gets ready for school. Before he heads out he does his "normal" introduction in front of the mirror. It goes a little something like this. "Hi, my name is Ted. Nice to meet you." He continues to repeat that phrase while making weird faces and sounds. While watching that you can't help but think to yourself, "What the hell!?"
Ted is at school in his Psychology class and the teacher is talking about Sociopaths and what their tendencies are. I just wished the girl sitting next to Ted would of yelled out "There's a Sociopath in this classroom and I'm sitting next to him!" Wishful thinking, I guess. What I like about this movie is how it didn't take a long time to get to the killings. It wasn't slow and I do like that in movies. I have A.D.H.D. I can't handle slow movies.
Later that night Ted goes to a local bar/night club by himself (how embarrassing!) A young girl walks in with her friends and catches Ted's eyes. Ted asks if she wants to dance but she kindly turns him down. Well, our boy Ted doesn't take no for an answer. He follows her back to her table and tells her that he won't bite and she won't regret dancing with him. She finally gives in since Ted is a charmer and knows how to swoon girls. They share an awkward dance and exchange a few words. Once the song was over the young girl was done. She thanked him and walked away.
Ted follows her home and watches her undress while he masturbates. I told you he was a charmer. We meet Ted's girlfriend, Lee. A very annoying, paranoid & whining girl. She suspects something funky is going on with Ted since he would have frequent outbursts and he would want to have really rough sex and have Lee pretend that she's dead. She doesn't press him on the subject since she doesn't want to make him upset. She wants him to commit to her but he already thinks they're committed to each other. She also has accused him of having other girlfriends since a lot of girls find him attractive.
He would attack girls he finds walking along the street. Once he captured the girls he brought them out to the woods so no one could find them or hear the girls scream. He'd tie them up and knock them out. Once they were knocked out he would rape them and then kill them or sometimes the other way around. He also practiced Necrophilia. He would break into girl's apartments and sorority houses. The way he would lure the girls into his car is he would wear a cast on his arm to make the girls feel bad and sympathetic towards him. He had that advantage on us women since we were born with that motherly instinct.
Plus those girls were stupid. I don't know, maybe I'm just a bitch but I wouldn't go out of my way as to get into a strangers car to help him fix up his sail boat. You never know what's going to happen. Plus, him wanting you to get into his car so you can "drive" somewhere to help him is a little odd. I have trust issues and I wouldn't do that since I always think the person is going to turn on me. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. Depends on how you look at it.
He killed women in Colorado and in Utah when he moved down to Salt Lake to practice Law. I assume you all know since I've mentioned it before but I live in Utah and my dad's friend saw Ted Bundy driving in his Yellow Slug Bug a day before he was captured in Utah. He tried kidnapping a girl from the mall by posing as a cop telling her that her car was broken into. The kidnapping didn't go as well as he had hoped for since the girl was a bad ass. She fought back and gave him a run for his money. I couldn't help laughing during that scene since she was beating the shit out of him. I kept yelling out, "You go girl!"
She managed to escape and get into another car. She informed the police and they captured him. After appearing in a line up, the girl from the mall pointed him out and he was charged for kidnapping and attempted murder. He decided to be his own lawyer in court. I guess he thought he was an awesome lawyer. While he was studying in the library, the cop that was watching him heads out to the hall for a smoke break. During that time Ted escapes. Big shocker. He doesn't stay free for long, he gets captured but ends up escaping again.
While he was in prison he had another woman visit him and of course she fell in love with him. She told him that she would help him get out of that place, which we all know won't happen. The judge makes the decision to put Ted to death by electrocution. The day of his death, the cops get him ready by shaving his head and shoving cotton balls up his pooper so he won't crap his pants when he dies. The time has come, the death of Ted Bundy is here. He gets electrocuted and his body is taken to a local funeral home. While he was in prison, Ted received 200 letters from women claiming how much they loved him. What a bunch of psycho sluts.
I really enjoyed this movie and thought everything about it was great. The acting was really good except for Lee, she got on my nerves real fast. Being able to see how Bundy swooned all those girls and to be able to take advantage of them was fascinating to see. You just want to yell out to the girls "run you stupid bitch! He's gonna kill you!!" The women that Bundy killed made me roll my eyes since I would never do some of the things they did. I wouldn't walk home from the bar alone, I wouldn't hitchhike and get into a car of someone I don't know. If a strange person approached me claiming to be a cop and wanting me to come with them, I wouldn't and I would call for help.
If you like slasher movies and movies about serial killers that really get most of things correct and you like the learning of it. I do suggest this movie. I give it 5 out of 5 skulls.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D Review:
About a year or so ago I came across an article on FEARnet talking about all the remakes to come. Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of them. It also said it was going to be in 3D. I was on the fence about this since I am not a fan of remakes of classic movies. After seeing the trailer I was instantly hooked. I could tell just by the trailer that this movie was going to rock.
Me and my movie buddy Kameron went to the 9:40pm showing on Wednesday. The good thing about going to see this movie after the opening weekend is that we had the whole entire movie theatre to ourselves. That let us yell at the screen and laugh and make jokes about the female character's boobs.
The movie starts out with clips from the original and I really liked how they did that. The movie picks up from the ending of the original with Sheriff Hooper demanding the Sawyer family to give up the boy (Leatherface) That ends with fatal shoot out between the Sawyer family and the towns people.
After the shoot out Gavin Miller finds Loretta Sawyer hiding behind a truck barely alive while holding her baby. Gavin "adopted" the baby after killing Loretta. Skips to present day where we meet Heather and Nikki talking about their road trip to Florida. Before heading out on their road trip, Heather gets a letter alerting her about the death of her grandmother.
Because of this letter she finds out that she was adopted and she was born in Texas. On the way to Florida they decide to make a stop in Texas to see what Heather's grandmother has left her. They get to Texas and Heather meets with her grandmother's lawyer and checks out the house that has been left to her.
The lawyer gives Heather a letter telling her that it was from her grandmother and she MUST read it asap. Once they all get settled in is when the fun begins to start. When they went out shopping, Darryl, the hitchhiker they picked up on their way starts robbing the house and heads down to the basement to see if he could find a jackpot.
He did find a jackpot, his name is Leatherface. Darryl was our first kill and it was kind of sad to see since Darryl was a looker. ;) The killing continues with leaving Heather all by herself trying to survive Leatherface. After being chased through the Carnival she gets escorted to the police station by the sexy cop Carl.
She finds out that she is a Sawyer and the local towns people killed off her family. She also finds out that Leatherface is her cousin. She reads her grandmother's note which explains that the house is now hers and in the basement lives her cousin Jed Sawyer (Leatherface) She continues telling Heather that he is family bound and he will protect her but he also needs taking care of.
After she finds out that he's her cousin, she begins to help him when two of the towns people, Officer Marvin and Burt Hartman try to kill Leatherface. During that scene you begin to feel bad for Leatherface and pity him. Even though he's a sadistic killer he's still a human being who's mentally challenged and he doesn't know any better. You would think that it's not his fault because he was raised into a very bad family who trained him to be a killer.
So when you look at it, even though he kills all these people he's just doing what he was trained to do. He doesn't go off killing random people, he kills the people that makes him feel like he's being terrorized and he's trying to protect his territory and family. The movie ends with Heather going back to the house with Leatherface and letting him know that she's going to take care of him.
I really, really loved this movie. I thought it was amazing. The kills, the story, the twist and Leatherface. Even though I am not a fan of remakes I have to admit that I have always been pleased with how well they have treated Leatherface. You see a lot of the horror classics being remade and frankly over half of them sucked ass. The Halloween remake wasn't well liked by a lot of people, Friday the 13Th was decent but wasn't amazing. A Nightmare on Elm Street god awful and they fucked up that remake hard. Children of the Corn remake and prequel was horrible.
The remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre was really good, I even liked Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning. I was very pleased with the movie and thought they did a great job. I'm really excited for Texas Chainsaw 4 to come out. I have always been a huge fan of Slasher movies and seeing this movie reminds me of why I'm a big fan how I'll always be a cult follower. I give this movie 5 out of 5 Skulls.

I'm Baaaaack!!
Hello my little blog followers! I've missed you! It's been awhile since I updated this jewel of mine. A lot has happened the last couple of months. I had surgery on both of my feet. I lost ten pounds! (wahoo!) I went back to work. (Boo!) I'm really going to try to keep this blog updated like I use to. If you have any movies you want me to review or you have a topic you want me to discuss then send them my way.
Tonight I'm heading off to see the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. I'm really excited for that. The preview looks good and I've read some reviews which made me more excited to see it. I've always been a fan of Leatherface so it's nice to see him back on the big screen. How can you not be a fan of Leatherface, I mean the man has a chainsaw. Chicks dig chainsaws ;)
Keep a look out for my review sometime tomorrow night. I'm going to try and pick up my Killer Saturday posts and A Supernatural Sunday. I have all these great ideas for blog posts but I never get around to do them because I'm lazy and I have A.D.H.D. There are a lot of new horror movies coming out this year and I'm very proud to be a part of this wonderful genre.
Besides the new Texas Chainsaw movie, we have MAMA coming out on January 18th then we have Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters coming out January 25th. Plus A Haunted House comes out this Friday. Looks like January is a big horror movie month. Other horror movies we have to look forward to is the remake of CARRIE and EVIL DEAD. I am looking forward to both of those since I'm a big fan of the original CARRIE and I wasn't too fond of the original EVIL DEAD.
We have a new zombie movie coming out called WARM BODIES. I'm not sure it can really be classified as a horror movie cause it doesn't look like one. Just because it has zombies in it doesn't mean it's horror. That's like everyone calling TWILIGHT horror. It's not. But hey, I rather see WARM BODIES over a sparkly vampire movie any day.
Last but not least we have WORLD WAR Z. Another zombie movie starring Brad Pitt. I'll give this movie a look. Why not. I like zombies. Thankfully we have a decent dose of horror movies coming out this year to make up for last year. 2012 sucked for horror movies.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas/Holiday and a Happy New Year. Here's to the start of a great year. Plan on seeing more of me. ;)
